Your information stays with us.

The short version: We collect only what you give us through this website, we use it only to help you with your property taxes, and we never sell, rent or trade it.

Who we are

Sentinel Property Tax Advisors ("Sentinel," "we," "us") is owned and operated by Julie Nicholson, a Texas registered property tax consultant (TDLR license #13542), 2100 14th St, Ste 107 #2484, Plano, TX 75074. This notice covers www.sentinelpta.com and the emails we send from it.

What we collect

What you type into our forms: your name, email, phone number, property address, county, appraisal account number, the service you're asking about, any message you write, and for call requests, the time you'd like to talk.
What you send by email, phone or text, such as notices, photos or documents about your property.
Basic, anonymous visit statistics: the page viewed, the site that referred you, your browser type and language, and an approximate country. These aren't tied to your name or email, and we don't collect your IP address for them.

We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13, and our services are meant for property owners.

How we use it

To review your property and respond to your request for a review, call or service
To send tax rate alerts you've asked for
To send occasional property tax updates, such as a reminder before the protest deadline, but only if you've said yes to them
To represent you, if you choose to hire us and sign an agreement and appointment of agent
To keep records required of a registered property tax consultant
To understand how the site is used so we can improve it

We never sell your information

We do not sell, rent, trade or license your personal information to anyone, for money or anything else. We do not share it for targeted advertising, and we don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We don't use it to build profiles that make decisions about you.

We share information only in these limited cases:

Service providers that host this website, store our records and deliver our email, phone and e-signature services. They may use your information only to provide those services to us.
Appraisal districts and review boards, only when you hire us and only as needed to file and argue your protest.
When the law requires it, such as a subpoena, or to protect our legal rights.

Property addresses, owner names and appraised values are already public records kept by your appraisal district. We may look them up to answer your request, but this notice covers only the information you share with us.

Email and how to opt out

We email you only about the request you made or the alerts you signed up for. Signing up for alerts does not sign you up for anything else: your confirmation email asks, separately and optionally, whether Julie may send you an occasional update, and we keep a record of when you said yes. Those updates have their own link to stop them, and stopping your alerts stops them too. Every tax rate alert includes a one-click link to stop them, and you can also opt out on our rate alerts page, by replying to any email, or by calling (469) 224-4600. Opting out is free and takes effect right away. We keep a record of your opt-out so we don't email you again by mistake.

How long we keep it

We keep sign-up and inquiry information while you're receiving alerts or working with us, and as long as needed for our business and licensing records. You can ask us to delete it at any time (see below); we'll keep only what the law requires us to keep, plus the opt-out record mentioned above.

How we protect it

Our forms send information over an encrypted connection, and our records are kept in access-restricted systems. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we can't promise absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we have about you, correct it, delete it, or give you a copy. Texas residents also have rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, including the right to opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising and profiling. We don't do any of those, and we honor these requests from anyone, wherever you live. We won't treat you differently for making one.

To make a request, email julie@sentinelpta.com or call (469) 224-4600. We may need to confirm it's really you before we act. We respond within 45 days. If we decline a request, we'll tell you why, and you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our answer.

Changes to this notice

If we change this notice, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we'll tell you before it applies.
